Welcome to South Park Middle School, home of the Panthers!
Located on the south side of town right across the street from the city park by the same name. South Park is an excellent place for your child to achieve social/emotional and academic success. We are known for our traditions with one part of the building being over 100 years old (yet still in great condition!). Students are the heart of our school and the staff provide support to them as they transition from elementary to high school.
The staff at South Park are committed to building positive relationships with students and their families. Each staff member sits on one of four building teams: Academic Action Team, Behavioral Action Team, Parent/Community Action Team, or Technology Action Team. Literacy strategies and equity are the focus of the professional development facilitated by the Academic Action Team to improve our reading/writing scores. The Behavioral Action Team continues to implement “The Panther Way” (PBIS – Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) with our core values being: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe. The Parent/Community Action Team plan events such as Family Literacy Night and Fine Arts Night. The technology team assists with student and staff chromebooks and technology professional development. The staff member’s work on these teams make South Park the best place it can be for students, families, staff, and the community.
Our families are always welcome at South Park whether it be to volunteer or speak in a classroom, chaperone or participate in a school event, or to partner with the PTN or our business PAL, Downtown Rotary. We know that parents know their child better than anyone so it is our goal to learn from you so we can work together as a team for your child to have the best experience possible at South Park.
Please stop in if you should have a question, concern, compliment or just to say “hello”.
Sincerely,
Joe Pitsch, Principal
